THE Real Transformations from Musicians & Instrumentalists
Real stories from Musicians & Instrumentalists who elevated their vocal mastery.
My flute playing improved significantly thanks to the commands!
I am Maya Keys and I studied voice with Chrissellene in the United States and continued to study in Paris, France. My primary instrument is the flute. I am studying musicology as well.

I found that doing Chrissellene’s vocal exercises have helped my flute playing become clearer in all registers. I feel that studying with her has allowed me to improve my sound which has helped me receive musical opportunities such as touring with the Chinekel Junior orchestra this past summer.
It was always fun and a pleasure taking vocal lessons from Chrissellene!

Her teaching system works – Success is now expected!!!
Her teaching system works. I have watched as a student who could barely carry a tune or match a pitch developed into a performer who won a college scholarship.

I have watched as adult singers, arriving with years of bad training/vocalizing behind them, emerged confident, cured of debilitating habits and ready for the pro audition circuit. The success stories are too numerous to relate; success is now expected.
Today, Chrissellene Petropoulos is the only voice teacher / coach I recommend.

Ms. Petropoulos’s methods have been a lifesaver for me!
This note is a heartfelt testimonial to Ms. Chrissellene Petropoulos and her marvelous help to me. I first met Ms. Petropoulos when, as a professional tuba musician, I was having trouble as I got older with my voice getting hoarse and raspy when I was playing tuba. Being very concerned, I had doctors look at my throat but there was nothing wrong.

At about the same time, I saw a flyer for a clinic Ms. Petropoulos was giving at a church. The clinic described her Seven Commands to Vocal Mastery and said that her methods could guarantee speaking or singing clearly at any time just by commanding our bodies to move in certain ways. I went to her clinic and I was delighted to discover that her methods helped my voice.
The bonus feature was that her methods also helped my tuba playing!!! My phrases were longer and my sound was more sonorous and richer. My breathing was enhanced to use my full physical capacity. This discovery became the central point of my DMA Dissertation titled “A Physiological Exploration and Pedagogical Integration of Voice and Brass Tuba Physical Methods to Enhance Tone Timbre or ’Play Like You Sing”.
Since my interaction and lessons with Ms. Petropoulos, I have been able to teach her methods (with due credit to her) to my brass students. Some features such as 6 areas of inhaling, the tongue down, flat, and forward, holding our ribs out, and keeping our throat OHpen. These are easy for students to remember, give them better playing techniques instantaneously and are guaranteed to work when applied as a command to their body.
I have the highest recommendation that anyone wanting to improve their speaking and singing voice and physical parts surrounding those areas confer with Ms. Petropoulos and her Seven Commands!
Thank you so much Ms. Petropoulos!!!

It’s true, she fixes broken voices. She fixed mine!!!
I remember screaming really loud one day, and my voice cracked and I think that’s when my left vocal cord shut down for fifty years or so. That was the last time I sang well. I didn’t get that left vocal fold back until I was past 60 and had started studying with Chrissellene.
I had NO interest in returning to school. College wouldn’t provide me with anything I’d want to learn. And at my age, I certainly wasn’t looking for a new career!

I found an article about Chrissellene online https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/lifestyle/1980/07/20/the-surprise- soprano/36b767bb-837a-445a-8531-2b688cca0e12/
I read her biography and I decided I wanted Chrissellene as my teacher. These were her selling points:
– She is a classically trained singer, and has studied with world-class “teachers in the industry.”
– She had professional stage experience.
– Her voice broke down.
– I didn’t need someone who never had to figure out their own vocal trouble; I needed someone who figured out how to work through vocal trouble.
– She initially went to her father for help. He worked as an ENT physician He told her he was knowledgeable as an Otolaryngologist (ENT) but had no idea how to fix vocal/singing problems.
– She spent many years searching for answers, even to the point of functionally doing scientific research using MRIs and Fiber Optic videos to prove her knowledge about the voice. She dealt with support (and associated vocal muscles), and developed her system.

Chrissellene helped me become a much better performer and teacher!
Chrissellene Petropoulos is an important teacher in my musical life, and her teachings have also been a valuable influence on my personal life.
When I met Chrissellene, I was already an established professional musician. Since earning a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from The Juilliard School, I performed throughout North and South America and in Europe and Asia. My students are among the highest achieving in the Washington DC metropolitan area.

With all of that, Chrissellene helped me become a much better performer and teacher. She was able to communicate specific aspects of breathing, and soft palate, tongue, and throat placement. In addition, her suggestions on phrasing, especially in using the breath to communicate musical ideas, have helped me and my students to become much better musicians.
Chrissellene has also helped me to understand the psychology of performing. I am much freer to accept criticism and to objectively address physical and personal issues in my playing. I am eternally grateful to Chrissellene Petropoulos for helping me grow musically and personally.
